One jar, a million uses.
One of the reasons it took me so long to get a on skin care routine when I was younger was that I was wary of a counter covered in various creams and rubs. One for your skin, one for your hair, one for your nails, and probably like five more I’m not even thinking of. Who has that kind of counter real estate? I need somewhere to put my toothbrush, you know? Instead of buying every skincare product in the known universe, you can actually get all of your needs out of just one: coconut oil.
Coconut oil is a natural edible oil extracted from the pulpy stuff in the middle of a coconut. Using it for skincare is fantastic for people who are sensitive to all the additives in most beauty products. Coconut oil has natural hydrating properties; a little dab on your face, hands, lips, or wherever else will do away with dry, cracked skin. A lot of body soaps actually contain coconut oil as an ingredient, but it works great on its own.
Coconut oil is also great for your hair, acting as a natural conditioner. Wash your hair with some after your regular cleaning for some extra hydration action from your roots all the way to your tips. In fact, some studies show that coconut oil can prevent protein loss in hair, which makes it last longer.
You can even use coconut oil as a part of your makeup routine. If you have dry skin or are battling winter weather, add a little coconut oil as the base of your makeup to get natural highlighter that’ll give your face a healthy, tropical glow. And when you’re done socializing for the day, coconut oil also works as a natural makeup removing pre-cleanse, wiping away even tough, waterproof colors.
