You can be mother nature of your own garden
Gardening is a great hobby but can also serve the purpose of promoting the environment and your natural surroundings. You can do your part to help with the declining pollinator population by planting some of these plants and herbs.
Lavender
Lavender adds a pop of purple to any garden with a relaxing, fragrant scent. You can harvest the sachets before flowering for DIY beauty products and some strains that are edible as a garnish for dishes. Let the flowers bloom to support the local pollinators including bees and butterflies.
Borage
Bees love borage flowers that also have the name ‘starflower’ for the bright blue blooms with a bottom that looks like the tail of a bumblebee. This plant is also affordable to manage since it self-seeds so you won’t have to buy new plants every year to replace after flowering.
Sage
This versatile herb is great for cooking but is also great for attracting and supporting local pollinators. Aside from cooking, you can also dry sage to make your own sage smudge stick with other dried flowers or herbs from the garden to purify your personal space.
Lemon Balm
This plant is called Lemon Balm for a reason thanks to its citrus scent and it has similar growing properties of mint that can be grown in its own pot. This plant blooms little white flowers that attract pollinators.
Fennel
The bright yellow flowerheads of the fennel are rich in pollen-food and nectar, attracting a variety of bees. Fennel is also edible to be used on dishes as a herb or garnish.
