Ringing in the new year responsibly
More people are opting to celebrate at home this year with most venues closed or serving at a limited capacity in response to the global pandemic. Despite not being able to go out in the traditional New Years’ Eve style but you can host a house party to ring in the New Year safely and responsibly.
Hosting a house party has changed since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and hosts are recommended to provide guests with essential items such as face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and anti-bacterial products. Simply create personal protective equipment stations at the main entrances, throughout the house, bathroom, and one by the food or drink stations.
The best option for safely serving guests is offering finger foods that can be picked up by a toothpick to avoid having too many hands all over the food. You can feature a food buffet table with finger foods including pigs in a blanket, a charcuterie board, slider burgers or sandwiches, and other small handheld appetizers.
Every New Years Eve party isn’t complete without cocktails and you can safely serve your guests with customizable cocktail stations. This will give your guests a chance to create their own custom drink with fun garnishes including, sprinkles, sliced fruit, candy, or edible herbs.
There are some additional items recommended for drink and food stations to keep guests safe with simple solutions. Offer some individually wrapped single-use utensils that are easy to keep clean and dispose of and it’s recommended to have multiple trash receptacles for the various stations. For an eco-friendly alternative of single-use items is using biodegradable utensils wrapped in sustainably sourced paper napkins.
