The beer, not the virus.
Corona beer, which has taken a bit of a brand beating due to the coronavirus, has often had an image synonymous with sun-swept beaches and warm, fun days. With a lot of beaches closed and everyone stuck inside, however, nobody’s really in the mood for a Corona-themed party (especially due to the other corona-themed parties that have shown up in the news recently). In an effort to get everyone back into a proper summer spirit, or at least a rough approximation of it, Corona has launched the “Rediscover Paradise” travel platform.
According to Corona’s new ad spot, Rediscover Paradise is all about reconnecting with the world’s beauty and traveling around once again. This starts with encouraging domestic travel and exploring the wonders of the world in your own home country.
“After months of staying indoors, we want the world to get outside with a new appreciation for nature,” said Corona’s Global VP Felipe Ambra. “By launching this platform, our hope is to get people back to the beautiful places they want to spend time in and provide some financial relief to an industry we connect with.”
In order to facilitate this program, Corona is teaming up with various hotels around the world, partially to give the struggling industry a little cash injection, and also to incentivize travelers with discounts and freebies. Corona is planning to book around 14,000 hotel rooms at over 1,000 hotels in multiple countries as a part of the program. These rooms will be given away as part of travel packages, prizes, and social promotions, and will include suggestions for local tourist spots and beautiful outdoor sights.
Rediscover Paradise will begin with a selective rollout in countries that have a good handle on their current situations, including the UK, Brazil, India, Chile and Canada. Corona is hoping the platform can also be used as an open-source host for hotels to offer competitive rates.
