The prolific beauty blogger is officially done with the beauty community.
Over the weekend, YouTube beauty blogger and general big name Shane Dawson posted a lengthy message on his Twitter about his problems with the beauty community overall, the drama surrounding himself, James Charles, Tati Westbrook, and Jeffree Star, and why he’s “over it.” The tweet was deleted from Dawson’s Twitter shortly after he posted it, but it was screencapped and shared around social media platforms in that brief interim period.
“The conspiracy palette was one of the best experiences of my life,” he wrote. “The series with Jefree changed my life and changed me as a person. It helped me be more confident and stand up for myself which I’ve always been bad at. So to honor the series and what I learned from it, I’m gonna say this: the beauty gurus who are ALWAYS involved in scandals are ALL THE F—— SAME. They are all attention seeking game playing egocentric narcissistic vengeful two faced ticking time bombs ready to explode. And I’m OVER it.”
Before this part of the tweet, he attempted to offer some quick explanations regarding his ongoing drama, stating that he did not tell Westbrook to make a callout video against Charles, nor did he have any involvement in its creation. He also clarified that he has never intentionally enginneered drama against anyone else in the community nor has he deliberately tried to make anyone look bad, though he did concede that he could’ve done a better job handling the situation.
After Dawson deleted his tweet, he posted a new tweet explaining why it was taken down.
Reactions to both the initial tweet and follow-up have been mixed, with some users saying they are glad Dawson is prioritizing his emotional health, while others saying he is shifting blame for his actions. As a result of the initial tweet, Dawson lost approximately 52,000 Twitter followers.
