Try a new twist on the classic pumpkin carving craft
Fall is finally here which means Halloween is right around the corner. Some might look forward to the candy but we’re looking forward to decorating pumpkins. Here are a couple of traditional and modern methods of decorating a pumpkin.
Carving a pumpkin is a more traditional method but there are a couple of different pumpkin carving projects to try. You can try carving a traditional pumpkin or use a drill for a more detailed pumpkin carving.
Using the traditional carving kit is fun but if you want to make a true carved pumpkin masterpiece then you should consider getting a drill set. Carving a pumpkin with a drill is more precise on the carving with less effort.
For a simple and minimalist version of a carved pumpkin, you can create a geometric pattern using different sizes of drill bits. This is an easy way to carve a pumpkin that is also less time-consuming.
If you’re not into carving then you can try painting a pumpkin that can also avoid having to hollow your pumpkin. Painting a pumpkin is easy and safe activity for the whole family to enjoy.
There are endless possibilities of painting a pumpkin and you don’t have to stop at paint. A fun paint option is glowing puff paint that glows under a blacklight or in the dark.
A minimalist and modern pumpkin decoration can be a simple pumpkin arrangement. You can feature a pumpkin arrangement either on your front porch or as a table center for your dining room. To have the pumpkins last longer, you can preserve them in a mixture of bleach, water, and soap dish (optional – spray matte sealer before the preservation process).
This is a fun way to incorporate a variety of smaller pumpkins in all shapes and sizes along with other seasonal vegetables such as squash or gourds. You can feature the pumpkins in their natural color along with painted pumpkins to tie your home decor color story with a touch of silver, gold, rose gold, or copper.
You can have a simple pumpkin arrangement for Halloween and repurpose for Thanksgiving by simply incorporating a traditional cornucopia. A pumpkin arrangement is small but sweet and can be featured through a majority of the fall holidays or as I like to call them the “fallidays.”
Another option for doing a pumpkin arrangement is hollowing out the pumpkin to act a vase for flowers for a cute flower arrangement. You can use fall color flowers to accentuate your pumpkin arrangement including red, orange, and yellow. This also a great option for a succulent plant holder.
