Rose Loofah Soap

So I learned something new today: loofah's are naturally occurring. I always just thought they were weirdly-shaped sponges, but it turns out they're made of some kind of gourd. Not only that, but you can cut one up and make some really nice exfoliating soap out of it.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb soap base
  • 1 natural loofah
  • 15 drops rose essential oil
  • 1/2 tsp pigment powder

Instructions

  • Cut the loofah into inch-wide slices, then place them in a soap mold.
  • Break the soap base up into cubes, put them in a microwave-safe bowl, melt them in the microwave. Stop the microwave every 30 seconds to stir until they're all melted.
  • Stir the essential oil and pigment powder into the bowl until it's all evenly mixed.
  • Pour the bowl's contents into the mold over the loofah slices. Give it a spray with isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any bubbles.
  • Let the soap set for a couple of hours, then take it out of the mold. Store the soap in a cool, dry place.
